Glossary term
Also known as Real-time telemedicine - Video visit
Real-time video or phone visits. Used when a case benefits from the back-and-forth.
Synchronous telehealth is a scheduled live visit with a clinician - video or phone - when a case genuinely needs real-time dialogue. Appropriate use: complex hormone decisions, cases where symptom nuance is hard to write down, or when a member wants to talk through risk before starting therapy. Inappropriate use: refill requests a message thread could handle in two minutes. We use synchronous selectively rather than mandating it for every visit - your time matters as much as the clinician's.
